Risk Management Report and Tool Kit
Risk is an uavoidable part of doing business, and the effective
management of risk is what separates successful companies from the
also-rans. The Risk Management Report and Tool Kit, newly published by
FreePint, provides users with practical guidance on planning,
developing and evaluating a programme of risk management, along with
eight hands-on tools to adapt the ideas within the report to their
specific situations.
Author Jela Webb is a noted consultant, writer and speaker on the
topic of knowledge management and risk management and has worked in
the emerging field of risk management since 1992. She makes clear the
parallels between the disciplines of knowledge management and risk
management, while highlighting the special requirements of an
effective RM programme.
The report is divided into four chapters, which introduce the concepts
of risk management, describe risk management projects and activities,
and emphasise the top-down and bottom-up requirements of risk
management. Far from being the responsibility of a single individual
or department, risk management is the job of everyone within an
organisation.
The eight activities in the tool kit help users identify and
categorise the risks facing their own organisations, prioritise among
risks, identify tools and processes already in use within the
organisation with risk management application, and develop a timeline
for implementing or auditing a risk management programme.
